From understanding to change: the I Matter Learning Journey
A consultation with the Child and Family Practice gives you more clarity.
The I Matter Learning Journey gives you the knowledge, skills and practical tools to build on that understanding over time
What makes this different?
Many families are offered advice without being given the opportunity to develop a shared understanding of what is happening.
The I Matter approach combines:
- structured Relationship Health assessment
- personalised educational consultation
- practical psychoeducation
- guided reflection
- coaching to support learning and application
- progress review over time
Together these help parents, carers and professionals develop greater confidence in understanding behaviour, relationships and the practical steps that are most likely to make a difference.
What is an Educational Consultation?
An Educational Consultation is designed to help you:
- understand your current relationship strengths and challenges
- identify the priorities that matter most
- understand how the I Matter Framework applies to your own situation
- develop a personalised learning plan
- make informed decisions about your next steps
Where appropriate, consultations may be supported by the I Matter Relationship Health assessment and progress tracking tools to help identify strengths, monitor development and review progress over time.
The emphasis is on understanding, learning and practical application rather than diagnosis or treatment.

The service supports learning, understanding and informed decision-making.
It is not a therapy or mental health treatment service and does not provide diagnosis or clinical treatment.
